Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities

Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities offers a continuum of services to preschool children ages 3-5, identified through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal committee process. The program offers a free appropriate education to children identified with a disability, beginning on their third birthday.

Available Services:
  • Technical assistance, information and training for teachers of students with disabilities below the age of six years.
  • Provide early childhood instructional materials for local schools
  • Transition and interagency coordination
  • Training and information for parents of preschool students with disabilities
  • Staff development for school personnel involved in the education of preschool students with disabilities
  • Preschool curriculum development / selection / adaptation / correlation for PreK and Head Start Programs
The Preschool LRE Initiative is designed to assist districts in assessing the quality of educational programming for preschool children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. The goals for this effort are to increase the number of preschool students served in least restrictive settings, to assist districts in assessing their current preschool practices for children with disabilities, and to improve the quality of services and collaboration with other service providers, i.e., child care centers, Head Start, parents, etc...Funding is available.
